Following our recent success in Essex, the Elite and A'squad travelled to Hertfordshire for the BIKO National Championships and after a hard days competing they managed to win one national title and four bronze medals.
The day started well with Zak Smyth taking bronze in a very contested kata category. Zak was soon up in the kumite category and determined to improve on his bronze medal he won in Essex. This he did in style after winning all his five fights, earning his gold medal and national title. Well done Zak!
Louis Naraine was in the same category as Zak and fought very well scoring with numerous head kicks to win a well deserved bronze medal. Joe Grimwood was determined to make up for his disqualification in Essex due to contact, and beat his opponents with a flurry of varied techniques and again scoring with some quite amazing head kicks to end the day with a well deserved bronze medal. Patchouli Phillips was last to compete but it was worth the wait as she also punched and kicked her way to a well deserved bronze medal.
The other squad members who did not manage to win a medal on this occasion all fought well and supported their fellow squad members. I would like to thank the parents again for their support and look forward to the WKU Open in late November especially as we will have our senior squad team competing.
