On Sunday 2nd July, a few of the SEKF elite squad members travelled to Worcester to compete in the Central England Karate Championships. Carla Rudkin-Guillen was first up to compete in the under 13's kata and took this category by storm, impressing the judges to win 3-0, 3-0, 2-1, 3-0 and 2-1 in the final, claiming a fantastic and well deserved gold medal. However, ten year old Carla was not finished yet as she had also been entered into the under 16's kata. Carla who was on fire won her first three rounds 3-0 after performing some incredible flawless kata and finally won an amazing bronze medal, after just losing out in the semi final 1-2.....Breathtaking to watch!
James Arnold competed in the 13-14 yrs kumite and showed his intent right from the start with an 8-0 thrashing of his opponent. James continued his great perfomance throughout the rounds winning his next two 3-0, 3-0 before narrowly losing out in the final to take a well deserved Silver medal.
Elliott Lowman and Louis Naraine also both competed, unfortunately decisions did not go there way on this occasion.
Well done to everyone who competed and a big thankyou to the SEKF Team parents who supported throughout the day.
